Over 700HP in a 1967 Chevelle SS!

This 1967 Chevelle SS was turned into a very mean machine by Chad Longo. After looking for a Chevelle for a long time he finally scored a project that was in relatively good shape. He wanted “all the cool things made for this car but also wanted it subtle and simple”. By leaving off the shiny trim and and having custom black bumpers made by Sik Fabrications, he certainly achieved the powerful mean look rather than the classic.

Rather than use Chad’s original idea of a supercharged 572 engine, he settled on starting with a 6.0 liter LQ4 truck engine with a cast iron block that was more capable of handling a blower. The machine work was done by BMS Machine in San Bernardino, CA. Dave Bashram there was lucky to locate a pair of heads from Gale Banks Engineering which were modified to flow well with boost. A COMP Hydraulic roller cam was installed along with a Kenne Bell supercharger which ultimately produced over 700HP to the wheels according to the folks at Westech Performance in Mira Loma, CA. They’re estimated output is 680ft-lbs torque at 5200rpm and 750HP at 6500rpm. The power is transferred through a Turbo 400 by Luke’s Transmission in Riverside, Ca. to a Harrison Racing & Fabrication 9-inch Detroit Locker differential. Harrison also extensively modified the frame and installed the custom fitted suspension components and Wilwood brakes.

The complete interior was done by Chad’s friend Miguel Rosales with Riverside Custom and Classic Auto Interiors over a period of 2 years while the body work was was under way. From the custom dash with Classic gauges to the flowing console to the Procar Rally seats, it provides a comfortable but unique, one of a kind Chevelle experience.

The extensive body work and House of Color Black paint was done to perfection by Jason Russel at Arkane Customs in Corona, CA.
The wheels are Rushforth Livewire 19×8 in front and 20×12 in the rear with Michelin Sport tires.
