Hint: the SS396 option came with an L78 engine rated at 375HP at 5600RPM. Other options included the RS (Rally Sport) group of body trim changes which included things like a blacked-out grill and hidden headlights and then the optional Z28 special performance group.  According to Wikipedia, 34,932 SS models were made in this model year.

The rare car in the picture above is a Plymouth Road Runner Superbird.  It was produced only in 1970 originally to race in NASCAR. There were somewhere around 1935 of these cars built. It was reported that 135 had the 426CuIn  Hemi engine while 716 had the 440ci  Six Pack. The rest had a 4 barrel version of the 440ci engine which was cheaper to produce and purchase.  The Superbird was designed after the 1969 Dodge Charger Daytona which apparently was the first American car to be designed using a wind tunnel and computerized analysis. The front nosecone and the elevated rear wing started to become effective only above 60mph.

Even though the Hemi engines were rated from the factory at 425HP, they were really making more like 600HP, making them one of the most powerful of the factory engines of the time.
